Buettner Printing was started in 1973 by my father, Fred Buettner Sr.  We began in the basement of our Milwaukee home with a small single color press, a multigraphic 1250.  We printed everything from letterheads; envelopes and business cards to tickets; brochures and wedding invitations.  As the business grew there was a need for more space and more equipment.  We moved to Butler in 1985 and added several additional multigraphic 1250s and 1850s Along with the capabilities to do multi-color work.  Our 500 sq ft basement shop had now grown to 3600 sq ft and there was concern that it was overkill.  It didnt take long with the added equipment to utilize nearly all of the space.  We added several more presses, bindery equipment and expanded our darkroom.

I joined the business in 1990 printing mostly envelopes.  We recieved a contract to print envelopes for Waukesha County that was over 500,000 envelopes a year for different departments.
I had helped the business expand by adding desktop publishing equipment and imagesetting equipment to shorten turn around time and at a even higher quality then previously done. Both my parents and myself worked at the business until 2000 when the need to expand came again.  I added several  Ryobi 3302 Two color presses and a Ryobi 3304 Four-color press.   My parents were seeing where printing was heading with all the technological advances and decided this was not for them.  They gave me the option to continue the business and I was thrilled to do so.  In 2005 they sold the business to me and went on other career paths.  I have been expanding the business even more over the last decade with addition of wide format printing; advertising specialties and screen printing.
